Unannounced Xbox 360 Games We Desperately Want

... Or - Shut Up And Take Our Money!

By , About.com Guide

It is funny how in an industry full of sequels some really obvious games that need sequels, or at the very least re-releases / remakes, aren't even in the works. Do publishers hate money or something? We've listed our picks for a few currently unannounced titles we'd love to see on Xbox 360. To quote the great Phillip J. Fry from 'Futurama', "Shut up and take my money!".

Halo Wars 2

Halo Wars was an awesome game. Not the best RTS ever or anything, but it worked amazingly well with a controller and was really fun to play. It is kind of a shock that we haven't seen a sequel to it yet, considering how Microsoft loves to crank out new Halo games. Halo series caretaker, 343 Industries, has implied that a Halo Wars 2 could still be in the cards, but isn't currently being worked on. Why the heck not?

Blast Corps

Blast Corps came out on the N64 almost 15 years ago and nothing has really topped it. Using heavy equipment to knock over buildings in order to save the world is an amazing concept, and with the power of the Xbox 360 it could be something incredible. I'd honestly be happy with an XBLA remake. Make it happen, Rare! And while you're at it, throw a Jet Force Gemini XBLA remake in there as well.

Killer Instinct

Another great Rare franchise that has been left on the shelf for far too long is Killer Instinct. In this case, however, I think I'd rather have just an XBLA, Xbox Live-enabled re-release of the original than a sequel. The original KI had a magic that KI2 and KI Gold seriously lacked, so I'm not sure we can trust Rare with a sequel. Instead of teasing us every year, how about proving me wrong by actually releasing a new KI, huh Rare?

Culdcept

One of my personal favorite Xbox 360 games is a little gem called Culdcept Saga. It is a sort of collectible card game / board game / RPG that, despite having purely PS2-level presentation, was amazingly fun. More cards. More interesting boards to play on. You don't have to reinvent the wheel, just give us more stuff.

Star Wars Games

Where is a new Rogue Squadron? Where is another Republic Commando? Why the heck is The Old Republic an MMORPG instead of giving us a new Knights of the Old Republic? Jedi Knight? X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter? Battlefront? LucasArts is sitting on a ton of great Star Wars games that we'd love to see sequels to.

Viva Pinata

I love the Viva Pinata series. So simple, yet fun and addictive and satisfying. And gorgeous to look at. I'd love a new one. Even better (maybe ...), put a Viva Pinata game on Kinect. It would have to be changed a bit from the VP formula (too much fiddling in menus to really work with Kinect) but with some tweaks it could be fantastic. Or, screw Kinect and just give us VP3 with normal controls. Just give it to us.

JRPG Sequels

Where the heck is our Lost Odyssey sequel. Or a Blue Dragon sequel. These were big time Xbox 360 exclusives once upon a time that most people assumed would turn into long running franchises. But, (other than a couple of NDS Blue Dragon titles) they disappeared. No wonder the Xbox 360 does so poorly in Japan, Microsoft has ignored the handful of games that could actually sell well. On a similar note, hey Square Enix, where is a new Star Ocean (I loved The Last Hope, so sue me) or a new Nier?

Bully 2

Grand Theft Auto is old and boring at this point. I want a sequel to Bully. Bully had a great story, awesome dialogue, incredibly good music, fun missions, solid gameplay, and an open world that was just the right size that it was fun to explore without being mostly full of filler like so many other sandbox games. Bully was amazing and a sequel (either with Jimmy Hopkins or a new character, just keep them in high school and keep the hijinks at misdemeanor level) would be awesome.

Fallout 1 & 2 XBLA

With the huge success of Fallout 3 and New Vegas, doesn't releasing the original Fallout games on XBLA seem to make sense? I get it that the licensing for such a release might be a mess, but it would be worth it. Some extensive touching up and tweaking would be necessary to bring them up to Xbox 360 standards, but I'd pay 1200 MSP or so for such a collection without batting an eye.

Mechassault

Another example of a Microsoft exclusive franchise that has been abandoned this generation for no apparent reason. Mechassault is a fast and fun mech combat series that would work perfectly on Xbox 360 where shooters and online play are so popular. While we're talking about abandoned original Xbox franchises, where the heck is a new Rallisport Challenge? I get it that the developers that made these series in the past might be busy with new stuff now, but can't someone else make them? It would work, you know it would!
