Description
- The old west theme is awesome and really feels fresh in todays market
- Shooting in the game is fun, if a bit mindless and simple
- You often have to have quick draw style showdowns with enemies. This is great fun.
- Graphics are blurry and pretty plain. More detail would have been appreciated.

Guide Review - Red Dead Revolver
Red Dead Revolver started out in development at Capcom but was shipped off to Rockstar Games when Rockstar bought developer Angel Studios. This game has been in development for seemingly forever, and now that it is out, I think it could have used a few more months to really polish it up. RDR is a fun third person shooter, but it isn't anything great. In Red Dead Revolver, you use rifles, shotguns, and revolvers to deal out the damage to cattle rustlers, claim jumpers, and other bad guys in the old west. You have to use cover in order to survive very long, and it is actually quite fun to pop out from your hiding place, shoot the nearest enemy a couple of times (thanks to auto aim) and then duck under cover again. The gameplay is rather simple, but that is part of the reason why it is so fun.
It isn't without its problems, however. You have to constantly babysit the camera in order to get the best view of the action, and at this point, a bad camera is unexcusable. The difficulty also varies wildly from level to level. Most levels are very easy, but occasionally you'll come across a hard section of a level that completely throws off the pace and flow of the game. Also, the enemy AI is pathetic and very easy to take advantage of once ou figure out their pattern.
Red Dead Revolver is a flawed game, but it still manages to be fun. The old west theme is reason enough to check it out, but the gameplay, despite some problems, if pretty fun. Give it a rental.
