Guide Review - WWE Raw 2
Raw 2 is a bit of a hard game to review. Half of the game is outstanding, and half of the game is absolute garbage. The Create-A-Wrestler is great, but the gameplay itself is horrible. You can make a character any way you like, but the gameplay is so bad you won't want to actually use them in a match. So, really, what is the point in even playing? The problem with the gameplay is that it moves at a snails pace. Moving around the ring is very slow. Wrestling moves are performed very slowly. Even worse is that when you press a button to perform a move, there is a delay of about a second before the move actually happens. That just isn't any fun at all.
Another severe problem with the game is that the main mode in the game, a story mode, doesn't actually tell any stories. There are cutscenes, but the characters don't say anything and there is no on screen text to tell you what is going on. You can build your own feuds and friendships by attacking or helping other wrestlers, but you never really know what is going on other that "He attacked me. Now I'm mad". Wrestling isn't exactly deep, but it is more complicated than that.
The bright spot in Raw 2 is the great CAW mode. You can customize how your character looks and you have a ton of options to make them look perfect. You also can customize their entrance, which is grea. Lights, camera angles, fireworks, and even music can all be perfect.
Raw 2 is a sad excuse for a wrestling game and is really only worth a rental.
