Guide Review - Project Gotham Racing 2 Review (Xbox)
Project Gotham Racing 2 was the first sequel to one of its own games that Microsoft released on the Xbox and it was a great vision of what the future was going to be like for MS. It is a huge improvement over the original PGR and other Xbox sequels coming out this year all look to continue that trend of massive improvements over already solid, but not perfect, Xbox games.The racing in PGR 2 is made more interesting than other racing games do to the Kudos system. Basically, you have to drive as wild and crazy as possible without losing control in order to rack up Kudos points that allow you to purchase new cars to use. Sliding around corners, completing sections of the track without hitting the wall, picking the best line through a corner, and several other techniques give you Kudos points and make the game surprisingly fun and satisfying.
The graphics and sound are very impressive in PGR 2 as well. The cars are accurately modeled and very detailed and the cities you race in are perfectly recreated. The soundtrack includes over 200 songs and you can also use your own music from the Xbox hard drive. The best part of the sound is that each city has its own radio stations where the DJs speak in the native language of the city.
Overall, Project Gotham Racing 2 is an amazing looking and sounding game that is one of the best racers available and by far the best racer on Xbox. It is also an excellent value for the money, so I highly recommend it.
