The Bottom Line

If you like Rainbow Studios other games such as Splashdown, Motocross Madness, and ATV Offroad Fury, you'll love MX Unleashed. Everything just feels right, and the attention to detail in the handling and physics of the bikes is simiply amazing. There are a ton of race types and there are even other vehicles such as a monster truck, dune buggy, and an airplane. MX Unleashed is by far the best MX game out there, so I highly recommend checking it out.

Guide Review - MX Unleashed Review (Xbox)

Up until now, motocross games haven't really been all that great. There was always something wrong with the controls or the AI or the gameplay itself that soured the whole experience. THQ's latest dirt bike racing game, MX Unleashed, completely changes all of that. The game is gorgeous to look at, but it also plays better than just about any other MX game.

There are three distinct styles of racing in MX Unleashed. Supercross races take place on indoor tracks in stadiums. Motocross races are held on huge outdoor tracks. And freestyle events take place in huge free-roaming levels where you can go anywhere and do anything. MX and SX tracks are all about racing, but in freestyle you can compete in points challenges where you compete with other riders to bust out the best tricks and score points, target challenges where you have to jump from a certain spot and land on a target, and you can have 1 on 1 races against dune buggies and airplanes in order to unlock them. There are dozens of events in MX Unleashed and most of them are quite challenging, so the replay value is astronomical.

The gameplay is outstanding in MX Unleashed because everything is very realistic. You have to lean backwards and forwards to get the most out of your jumps, and you also have to know how to manipulate the throttle and clutch in order to get around the tracks as fast as possible. Everything is very smooth and easy to do.

MX Unleashed iw a solid rental and for a lot of people a solid purchase.
