Guide Review - Halo Review (Xbox)
The reason for Halo's success is because the gameplay is better than pretty much every other FPS on the market today. Switching weapons, tossing grenades, using a melee attack, and shooting can all performed with ease. This creates a very smooth experience that no other game has matched.
The only real problems with Halo lie in the level and character designs. The characters are pretty lame looking and you fight the same enemies (split between two different species) over and over again and it feels pretty repetitive after a while. The levels are put together in a very linear fashion so there isn't really any chance for exploration and there is a very straightforward path through each level. To make matters worse, there are lighted arrows on the floor pointing you n the right direction all over the place. Please, we're big people. We can figure this stuff out on our own.
Despite Halo's problems, the gameplay is where its at and Halo is the best playing FPS in this generation.
