Dance Dance Revolution is incredibly popular both in the arcades and at home all over the world. DDR Ultramix 2 takes everything that makes Dance Dance Revolution great and adds in a huge song list and Xbox Live play for the best DDR experience yet. If you are looking to get a little exercise or just something feel like getting your groove on, DDR Ultramis 2 is highly recommended.

What It Is

Dance Dance Revolution is a rhythm game where instead of playing with a regular controller you use a pad that is placed on the floor and you hit the buttons with your feet. You just follow the arrows onscreen and press the correct button at the right time. What makes DDR so fun and interesting is that you get to exercise, play games, and listen to some cool music all at the same time. Adding thirty-minutes of DDR to your daily workout routine is a great way to burn some extra calories and ultimately feel a whole lot better about yourself.

One thing that needs to be mentioned is that you shouldn’t worry if you aren’t immediately a dancing superstar when you first pick up DDR Ultramix 2. Those kids in the mall that play on the hardest difficulties and add in flips and spins to their routines while still getting perfect scores aren’t the norm. You can play on easy or slow the tempo down and no one is going to think any less of you. You’ll get better eventually, so don’t get frustrated if you struggle at the beginning.

Features

DDR Ultramix 2 is easily the most feature-rich entry in the DDR series. The standard mode is identical to what you’ll find in the arcade so you’ll play through three songs at a time. Battle mode lets you compete head-to-head with up to four friends. Party mode is another competitive multiplayer mode with a few different options such as sync mode where 2-4 players have to perfectly sync their steps together. Workout mode gives you fitness goals and keeps track of calories burned. In Challenge mode, you complete specific challenges on songs of your choice across all five difficulty levels. Training mode allows you to adjust the difficulty and pace of songs so you can practice them before trying them on higher speeds. Edit mode lets you create your own dance routines. And, finally, Xbox Live mode allows you to compete online against other people, download new songs and characters, and download and upload your edited dance routines.

As you can tell, there is a ton of stuff to do in DDR Ultramix 2. There are also a lot of options to play with including having different arrows and you can also choose which character (if any) is dancing in the background.
