He announced that the Xbox 360 is on track to be the fastest selling video game console ever and will sell between 4.5 million and 5.5 million units worldwide by the end of June 2006. It is also expected that by the end of June there will be more than 50 Xbox 360 games available.
Another key point was that 9 out of 10 Xbox 360 owners either own an HDTV or they plan to buy one. In reality it might not be that high, but we know a lot of people who bought HDTVs specifically for their Xbox 360. Which makes Nintendo's claims that they don't need HD graphics because no one has HDTVs pretty much moot, doesn't it.
The big announcement of the night was that an external HD-DVD drive will be available for the Xbox 360 sometime this year. Microsoft has stressed that it will only be used to play movies and not games, so don't worry too much about this add on ruining your $400 investment. It is basically a cheap and easy way to get HD-DVD into as many homes as possible.
