The EA Sports Season Ticket is a new paid subscription program to give sports game fans premium benefits for five EA Sports franchises - Madden NFL, FIFA Soccer, NHL, NCAA Football, and Tiger Woods golf. Madden NFL 12 will be the first game in the program. The benefits include being able to download a full version of each game 3 days prior to its official release date (but the digital copy expires after three days and you'll have to buy a retail copy to keep playing), 20% discount on DLC for these titles, free web content, and a special recognition badge on your EA Sports profile.
How Much Does the EA Sports Season Ticket Cost?
The EA Sports Season Ticket costs 2000 Microsoft Ponits ($25).
Why Should I Care About the EA Sports Season Ticket?
This is the tricky question. You are essentially paying $25 just to rent the games three days early and then still have to shell out full price if you intend to keep playing. The DLC discount is sort of a non-factor since EA Sports DLC has traditionally been pretty poor (cheats or boosts to make the game easier, usually) but that could certainly change towards better DLC as a result of this program.
For most people, the EA Sports Season Ticket doesn't really make sense since you ultimately have to pay full price for the games anyway. For die-hard sports fans that want a 3-day head start, I could see it being worth it. You'll have 3 extra days of practice, after all. It also seems like the Season Ticket could be worth it for moderate sports fans that get bored with most sports games after 3 days (or whenever they scrape up all of the Achievements), so being able to "rent" all 5 of the games right when they come out and get your fill for $25 total is actually a pretty good deal.
