Top Ten Most Wanted Games of E3 2007

By , About.com Guide

Check out our picks for our most wanted Xbox 360 games of E3 2007.

1. Rock Band

Rock Band is going to be awesome. You can probably pencil it in as Game of the Year 2007 right now. Improved guitar play over Guitar Hero, combined with a full drum kit, and singing? Sign me up!

2. BioShock

BioShock is gorgeous looking, first and foremost. Great water, great lighting, great environments – this game looks very nice. The gameplay promises to be a bit more complex than your typical FPS, and we can't wait to play it. It also looks to deliver some good horror elements, and that just pumps our excitement for the game up even more.

3. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

With developer Infinity Ward back at the reigns, you know Call of Duty 4 is headed in the right direction. It looks amazing, and promises to play just as good. The modern warfare setting was a very, very welcome change.

4. Mass Effect

Mass Effect tells the story of an alien prophecy that every 50,000 years, an alien machine race will returns to the galaxy to harvest all sapient organic life (source: wikipedia). This action-RPG features an incredibly complex conversation system for NPCs, and some of the best character models we have ever seen to go along with the interesting story. We can't wait for it to hit in November.

5. Virtua Fighter 5

What system is the definitive version of Virtua Fighter 5 on? Oh yeah, Xbox 360. Not only is it a port of the latest arcade version (Ver. C), which means it will be as balanced and polished as possible, but it also includes online play over Xbox Live.

6. Fallout 3

Okay, I'll admit it, I haven't ever played the Fallout games. But that doesn't mean my anticipation for Fallout 3 is any less than yours. The story and setting are fascinating, and the pedigree of Bethesda as developer and the Oblivion engine as the base for the game are all I need to know that Fallout 3 is going to be insanely good.

7. Halo 3

Of course Halo 3 had to be on this list. It is only the biggest game of the year. While it looks very good, it is far from the best looking FPS this year, but it will certainly have some of the best gameplay and that is far more important. We finally get to finish the story arc as well as try some more of that sweet-as-candy online multiplayer on September 25th.

8. Resident Evil 5

The trailer shown at E3 didn't really tell us much, but it sure did get us excited for more Resident Evil action. The gameplay in RE4 was just about perfect, and combining that with next-gen graphics is almost too good to be true. It is still quite a ways off, but the wait will certainly be with it.

9. Left 4 Dead

A co-op zombie game where the survival of your group is the main focus? Sounds too good to be true. But this collaboration of Turtle Rock Studios and Valve looks to deliver everything zombie fans have wanted (that wasn't in Dead Rsing, anyway).

10. Assassin's Creed

Ubisoft Montreal's latest blockbuster-in-the-making is a third-person action game where you control an assassin during the third crusade. The game will allow you to meet your objectives in many many different ways, so you can really make the experience your own. Also intriguing is the supposed "sci-fi twist" that really spins the story in unexpected ways.
