Bungie, formerly of Halo fame, has officially unveiled its next title and first one to be published by Activision.
Destiny is a multiplayer focused, mmo-style, first-person-shooter set in a totally new and unique story universe where aliens have attacked Earth but humanity is saved by a friendly alien known as The Traveler. With The Traveler's help, mankind has clawed back from the brink of extinction, and is now ready to venture back out into space. Your role is as a guardian - a defender of the final human city and you'll also be able to travel to other planets in the solar system to fight the aliens there. The hook to the game seems to be that players will always be connected and sort of automatically drifting in and out of other players' games and you'll be able to team up with other players you meet to take on missions You can play solo if you want, but it seems co-op will be the best way to play.
What we have seen so far looks an awful lot like Halo, to be honest. Whether that is a good or bad thing, however, will remain to be seen.
