Microsoft Officially Reveals Kinect Pricing and Bundles

By , About.com Guide   July 20, 2010

Follow me on:

Microsoft has finally officially revealed the price for Kinect. It will cost $149.99 and will include the Kinect Adventures game when it launches November 4th, 2010.

Other first-party Kinect games, such as Kinectimals, Kinect Sports, and Kinect Joy Ride will retail for $49.99. We expect third-party titles to follow the same pricing.

Microsoft also revealed a new Xbox 360 Slim system with 4GB of flash memory and a black matte finish that will retail for $199.99 and go on sale August 3rd.  Or as a bundle with the Kinect hardware later in the year (November 4th)  for $299.99 (not a bad deal).

These prices were first reported by Microsoft's Director of Programming for Xbox Live, Larry Hyrb. Better known as Major Nelson. You can see the original story here.

Hi, I already have the Xbox 360, can I use the Kinect with that one?

Yes. Kinect will work with any Xbox 360 system.

One distinction between the older Xbox 360 and the new Xbox 360 S, however, is that the S has a special port to provide power to Kinect that the original Xbox 360 systems do not. Using Kinect with original Xbox 360 systems requires Kinect to be plugged into a power source via A/C adapter.

Other than that, however, the experience will be exactly the same no matter what Xbox 360 system you have.
