Fight Night Round 4 Review (X360)

Thursday July 9, 2009
Here we are, three and a half years after its release, and Fight Night Round 3 is still one of our favorite Xbox 360 games. To say that Fight Night Round 4 has a lot to live up to is a massive understatement. Does Round 4 meet the challenge? Yes and no. It is definitely a step above as far as presentation goes, but there is just something about the gameplay that falls a little short. Find out all of the details in our full review right here.

Great Review. I agree with all of your points. You however forgot to mention the Share boxer feature online that allows you to download other players created boxers. There is a slew of boxers on there that are hilarious. Adds some fun to the gameplay. I have seen Michael Jackson as a Bantamweight, ROn Burgundy as a heavyweight, even Debo from the Friday movies is on there. Of course there is Rocky and Appolo also. I think this feature is really cool. It also will give people another aspect to think about when considering purchase or rental.

Another change is that there are now onscreen indicators showing your health, stamina, and blocking ability. Again, this is a step backward from the super clean, no onscreen clutter UI from Round 3.

This is absolutely untrue. While the demo forced the UI (and it’s on by default, which may have been the case with round 3, and was on the original Xbox version), the only time it must remain on is during sparring as a training option. If you’d moved into the options menu, you’d have certainly seen the toggle.

Nor have I ever been matched up against an unfairly skilled opponent. Several times one who was far below my level, but never forced to fight one tremendously above.

No mention of the limitations on boxer creation, nor the download options for new boxers. The review sounds a lot like you spent some time with the demo and extrapolated the rest from other reviews.
