More Microsoft E3 09 Announcements

Monday June 1, 2009
Seems like a lot of stuff was cut from the Microsoft E3 09 Press Conference due to time constraints (too much Beatles Rock Band ...), so Microsoft had a lot more to reveal at their post presser luncheon. You can see all of the new announcements in a letter written to the Xbox Live Community from Microsoft's Marc Whitten here, but I'll pick out some of the tastier morsels.

Games on Demand - Starting in August, you'll be able to download full versions of Xbox 360 games. Can pay with credit card (real money) or MS Points (Space Bucks). Will start with 30 titles and more will be added each week.

User Ratings on All Marketplace Content - User ratings on all content means it'll be a lot easier to separate the wheat from the chaff. Now you'll know for sure if a theme or gamerpic is worth the points.

Avatar Marketplace - Avatars will soon have unlockable costumes/items you can win in games. New clothes and other stuff will soon be available to buy with MS Points.

Performance Updates - Microsoft is working on updates to improve speed and performance of the NXE. Hopefully no more slow loading and hang-ups if you have a long list of friends.

Again, this is just a few choice cuts. You can see the full letter from Marc Whitten here.

(1) Bill says:

Eric, how can you say too much Beatles Rock Band? Although there are other big games and projects coming out this year Beatles Rock Band has the potential to be huge!
I think the problem many of the baby boomers had with Rock Band and Rock Band 2 was not knowing many of the song, with the Beatles, they will know practically every song. Tie this in with the three part harmonies allowing up to six people to play and there are going to be a ton of unhappy teenagers when their parents take over their Xbox so all their friends can relive their youth!
I have put a bunch of information together that is available here, Beatles Rock Band for anyone looking for more information.

(2) Xbox Guide says:

Nothing against Beatles Rock Band, but when everyone expected other announcements from Microsoft at E3 and they spend 20 minutes on this instead, it was a bit too much.
