Microsoft Offering Cheap Memory For Core/Arcade Console Owners

The New Xbox Experience dashboard relaunch is coming on November 19th, but with one catch - the update takes up 128MB of space on your hard drive or memory card. Since this is a required update, Core/Arcade Xbox 360 system owners that don't have hard drives might be in trouble. But fear not! Microsoft has revealed a program where you can sign in with your console ID number and serial number and if everything checks out (i.e. they see you actually are a Core or Arcade owner) you'll be given two options. A 512 MB memory card for free, or a 20GB hard drive for $20. There is also an option for a 20GB HDD with 3 months of Xbox Live for $29.99 if you meet certain conditions.

For full details on the program, see the official page on Xbox.com.

IF you bought a core system, but got hard drive after would you still be able to get this deal? sounds like an excellent deal if you bought core and needed a hard drive.

I just did this upgrade. However, it wasn’t the 20GB for 20 bucks. It was the 20GB for 30 bucks. They bundled 3 months of Xbox Live Gold along with it for the extra $10. However the best thing about it was that I ordered it on Thursday morning, and the hard drive was here Friday at noon!

Ryan, I would expect that unless somehow Microsoft knew that you had purchased the hard drive, you should be able to get the upgrade.
