No, I'm not talking about the Xbox 360 Arcade system. I'm talking about real arcades. The ones with sticky floors. Sweaty videogame nerds. Greasy joysticks. Yeah, that arcade. Or, at least how arcades used to be. Now they are a dying breed.
But perhaps Microsoft and the Xbox 360 can save the arcade. That is what Microsoft is hoping, apparently, as it has been revealed that Xbox 360 cabinets will be hitting arcades soon. The unit has two controllers, memory card slots, and can be system linked for multiplayer action. No word on whether they will connect to Xbox Live. It will be coin operated, natch, and the likely lineup of games includes both multiplayer and single-player games such as Assassin's Creed, Halo 3, and Devil May Cry 4.
