Did Midway just perform a Fatality on their own franchise? I couldn't believe it when the rumors cropped up last year. And now that it is actually official I still can't believe it. The next entry in the Mortal Kombat series is Mortal Kombat vs. DC Comics. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!

Mortal Kombat is already pretty much dead to most gamers anyway, but there was some hope when it was promised that the next-gen debut of the game would be a complete reset for the series. Instead, we get what looks like from the trailer to be basically the same gameplay with superheroes shoehorned in. Word has it that it will have little blood, no fatalities, and they are shooting for a T for Teen ESRB rating. This is not the MK we're looking for. Move along.

That is just my knee-jerk reaction, anyway. It is still very early and we don't know much quite yet. What do you think?
