"Guitar Hero II Song Packs Released," or "Horse Armor Vol. 2"

Wednesday April 11, 2007
The first downloadable song packs for Guitar Hero II on the Xbox 360 were revealed today, and it isn't good news. The songs are bundled into packages of three songs for 500 MS points, or $6.50. The first bundles are songs from the first Guitar Hero.

  • #1. 500 pts - Bark at the Moon, Hey You, Ace of Spades
  • #2. 500 pts - Killer Queen, Take It Off, Frankenstein
  • #3. 500 pts - Higher Ground, Infected, Stellar
This is a bit of a problem, though. Even though there are some excellent songs on there, we have already paid $90 to get Guitar Hero II in the first place, and now they want to charge a premium for older stuff many gamers have already played a hundred times? That isn't cool. If you wanted to buy all of the 40+ songs from the first Guitar Hero on the 360, it would cost $100. If they were new songs we haven't played before, maybe the price would be acceptable, but as it is now, I think most people are pretty unhappy with the price.

All is not lost, however. We can fight back. Remember when Bethesda burned us with their expensive horse armor? The public fought back, and we have had reasonably priced Oblivion DLC ever since. Lets do the same to Red Octane. Contact Red Octane and let them know how you feel.
