One year ago today, on November 22nd, 2005, Microsoft launched the Xbox 360. It has been a great year with some absolutely fantastic games, and the best thing about it all is that 2007 looks to be even better.
Possibly to celebrate, but it seems more likely that it is merely coincidence, there is quite a bit of big news happening on the Xbox Live Marketplace this week.
- Starting November 22nd, movies and TV shows will be available for download. Prices range from 160 MS points for standard def TV shows you can keep, all the way up to 480 MS points for high def movies you can only rent. That comes out to be about $2 and $6 respectively.
- A Lost Planet multiplayer demo will be available for download on Thursday the 23rd. Starting on Friday the 24th, if you preorder Lost Planet from EB/GameStop, and other retailers, you will be given a special code that grants you access to an expanded multiplayer demo that has two maps instead of just one.
- Hitting the Marketplace today is the Xbox Live Arcade game, Small Arms. It is a frantic multiplayer fighting/brawling game in the same vein as Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. series. It will cost 800 MS points.
- Also hitting the Marketplace today is the Knights of the Nine expansion for Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. For $10 you can add an extra 10-15 hours to the game. Not too shabby, eh?
It has been a great year with the Xbox 360, and we're looking forward to a great 2007 and beyond.
